Learning Challenges

HEART -- Health/Happiness, Empathy, Attention, Reading, and Time

When I first looked at these words they didn't mean much to me. I thought I was pretty well balanced in all aspects for both school and life in general. However, as I explored Learn By H.E.A.R.T I realized these words carried a lot more meaning to me.

I thought of "Health" as being centered around exercise and eating healthy, but what I read was all about mental health. That really hit home with me because I suffer with anxiety attacks. It's something that I'm really dealing with working on. My attacks come on randomly and all at once. I constantly search for new ways to calm me down, and I have yet to find something that really works. So far I have been looking to yoga to help fight anxiety. So getting a handle on my health (anxiety) is the biggest thing I'm working on. It is my biggest struggle.

Another word I need to work on is the "Time" aspect. I have a lot of trouble juggling my responsibilities. My time management has always been a weakness of mine. My life would be much more efficient if I found a way to stay on track and really focus on not procrastinating.

HEART -- Those words now have meaning, and I'm sure that everyone could pick a word and admit that they could work on that in their life.

  1. I really like how you addressed mental health. I think a lot of people don't even think about this whenever they hear or think about the word health. I'm sorry you have anxiety. I know many people struggle with this and there isn't much help out there to make things easier. I hope that you are able to overcome it. Yoga sounds like a really good plan. It's healthy for your body and for your mind.

  2. I also thought about mental health when I saw the word health. I also suffer from an anxiety disorder, but counseling is helping quite a bit. I hope you find something that works for you. I can also relate to the need to procrastinate less. I do it all the time and it just adds more stress to my life. Good luck this semester in working towards living a healthier life!

  3. I need to work on both of those too! I find I always use my time unwisely and health suffers from that! We just need to be focused and remember what is important in life! Great message and I think we can both improve! Good luck!
